brief history of the Faculty
7 May 1919 - the Philosophical Faculty was set up at Poznań
University, em-bracing the Institutes of Geography, Geology,
Mineralogy, and Paleontology.
23 September 1925 - the Philosophical Faculty split into
the Mathematical-Natural Faculty and the Arts Faculty.
1 September 1951 - the Mathematical-Natural Faculty was
divided into the Mathematical-Physical-Chemical Faculty
and the Faculty of Biology and Earth Science.
1 September 1984 - the Faculty of Biology and Earth Science
split into the Faculty of Biology and the present Faculty
of Geographical and Geological Sciences.
1 January 1991 - the Faculty of Geographical and Geological
Sciences started to embrace four Institutes: of Quaternary
Research and Geoecology, of Physical Geography and Environmental
Planning, of Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Management,
and the newly established Institute of Geology.
2000 - the Centre of Education in Environmental Protection
and Sustainable Development was set up as an independent
unit in the Faculty.
2001 - the Tourism and Recreation Centre was set up as an
independent unit in the Faculty.
