ERASMUS POLICY STATEMENT 2007-2013

Description of the University policy and strategy for its Erasmus activities and other LLP actions

Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poznań has set itself the following objectives and priorities in its effort to raise the level of instruction and amplify its contribution to the process of innovation in education and support for the implementation of the European Higher Education Area, in agreement with the targets defined in the Lisbon Strategy and Bologna Declaration:

1. Improvement of the quality of exchange through:

1.1. extending curricula to accommodate the needs of the domestic and European labour markets,
1.2. extending the teaching offer in foreign languages under the AMU Programme for International Exchange,
1.3. improving foreign language skills among students and staff,
1.4. updating the catalogue of subjects and monitoring the application of ECTS
1.5. participation in multilateral projects and thematic networks with European higher schools to carry out research projects and establishing common curricula.

2. Geographical extension and enlargement of the exchange of students and staff through:

2.1. signing new bilateral and multilateral agreements with partner schools in Western and Eastern Europe,
2.2. amplifying marketing activities, both external and internal (e.g. through international and domestic education fairs),
2.3. taking mobility into account in staff promotion.

3. Support of innovation through:

3.1. the activity of the AMU Academic Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer,
3.2. transfer of technology from AMU and commercialisation of research results,
3.3. promoting pro-innovation attitudes among students.

4. Support of disabled students and elimination of exclusion of low-income students from international programmes through through:

4.1. measures taken by the Rector's plenipotentiary for disabled students,
4.2. investment in systems and facilities making the study and everyday life easier for disabled students,
4.3. material and organisational help to enhance the mobility of disabled students.
4.4. part-financing of students from less wealthy families from the University budget.

5. Prevention of sex, sex-orientation and religious discrimination through:

5.1. offering gender-study subjects as part of curricula,
5.2. a cycle of open seminars concerning boundaries of religions, cultures, customs, etc.,

6. Integration of foreign students during their stay at AMU through:

6.1. organising integration events and 'National Days', presenting and explaining stereotypes associated with various nationalities, emphasising the unifying role of culture and arts,
6.2. inviting foreign students to music bands, scientific and sporting groups, etc.,

7. Dissemination and popularisation of the assumptions of the LLP Programme, Erasmus Card, and EPS through:

7.1. a bilingual AMU Internet portal with information on LLP,
7.2. publishing and updating prospectuses of European educational programmes,
7.3. annual celebration of an Erasmus Day at AMU,
7.4. information boards and meetings in the faculties,
7.5. articles in the academic press and local daily media.
