Constitution
Adam Mickiewicz University is a State-maintained
institution of higher education supervised by the Ministry of
National Education and Sport. Its operation is based on the Bill
of Higher Education, passed by the Polish Parliament on 12 September
1990, and on The Adam Mickiewicz University Statute approved by
the University Senate on 7 September 1991.
The Adam Mickiewicz University Statute specifies the goals of
the University, its organizational structure and responsibilities
respective to the Senate, the Rector, Faculty Councils, Deans,
Institute Councils, Directors of Institutes and Chairpersons.
It also specifies the general responsibilities of the University
employees, students, disciplinary committees and administrative
and technical services.
It regulates the process of election of the University executive
officers, and describes the University emblem, distinctions, its
banner, and University celebrations, such as the traditional Academic
Year Commencement Ceremony which takes place on the First of October.
